Laurel  Skousen Allen began her training under the guidance of Cornelia Sampson, a retired member of Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo, at the Rochester School of Ballet in Michigan. She trained with the Vaganova method from an early age under Cornelia's strict tutelage. By the time she reached sixteen, she had already trained around the world with 4 different professional companies including New York City Ballet and The Royal Ballet in London, and was accepted to the prestigious School of American Ballet in New York. At seventeen she accepted a position with the Cleveland San Jose Ballet, and was dancing principal roles within her first year. She has performed innumerable soloist and lead roles in ballets including The Nutcracker, Don Quixote, Swan Lake, Carmina Burana, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Romeo and Juliette, Who Cares, In Studio D, Quicksilver, Blue Suede Shoes, and many others.  Since retiring in 1999, she has passed on her experience, knowledge and performing abilities to her beloved students.

As a former professional ballerina I have a thorough understanding of what a student needs to succeed in a professional company.
